How Does Commit to Quit Work?

Commit to Quit is a cessation resource that connects CT residents to the information and services needed to help them in quitting tobacco and nicotine for good. Commit to Quit provides residents with access to the Connecticut Quitline which is:

  • Free! As a Connecticut resident, your enrollment in smoking cessation support services is either covered by service funding or your insurance.
  • Based on proven and effective strategies. Studies confirm that behavioral counseling greatly increases the chances of quitting tobacco. The Connecticut Quitline helps thousands of people on their quit journey every year.
  • Self-paced and customized for each person. You decide the details of your plan such as how often you speak with a Quit Coach and whether you choose to use nicotine replacement therapy.
  • Staffed by trained coaches. All coaches complete more than 150 hours of specialized training including cultural competency training.

Quitting tobacco takes courage, time, and commitment. It can take several attempts to quit for good. The CT Quitline helps with the physical, emotional, and behavioral factors that make quitting so hard. Quit Coaches will help you:

  • Set a quit date
  • Tell other people about your quit.
  • Anticipate and prepare for triggers.
  • Get back on track after setbacks.
  • Remove tobacco from your life.
